Thanks to everyone that attended Winter Conference! With so much going on I think we were all anticipating a low attendance, but we had 67 Seniors and 8 Juniors. We had several first timers, and it was great to meet them. A few of them mentioned the meeting was informative. That’s great news!
It was nice to have National President Kathy in attendance. She gave us further incite to Caregivers and shared with us a little of her travels. We presented her with a University of Kentucky hoodie and a Pandora Horseshoe charm to remind her of home! We celebrated with a pizza party at lunch.
I especially liked the joint session with the entire family to kick off the Conference! It was great to see so many smiling faces to start the day.
Burkesville presented us with a check for $10,000 for Dogs Helping Heroes. Their little post in their small town makes us so proud! Magnificent work Burkesville!
We heard about upcoming scholarship deadlines., Legislative incentives with some beautiful prizes. There are member awards, unit awards, department awards, Poppy Poster Contests, mentor essay contests. There is something for everyone! Please take part in these, take pictures, and please report!
The Juniors had some first timers as well. It was great to see the girls from Madisonville. There were two young SAL member in attendance with the Juniors! They painted fingerprint poppies, and other paintings and sold them at the Auxiliary, Legion, and SAL meetings and made over $500!
The downside of the weekend happened when the fire alarm sounded. It was a little too cold to be standing outside while the fire department checked it all out. But no one was hurt and there was no real fire, so all was good!
Please remember to get your membership in right away. Do not hold onto. We need an accurate count at all times. Also, make sure that your assessments are paid so you can claim those awards you are eligible for!
I’m looking forward to the next district meeting! As always, please let me know if you have an event coming up. I’d love to add your visit to my schedule!
See you at Spring Conference in Florence on April 15th and 16th!
